WESTBURY man Robbie Gage appeared in court last week charged with handling a stolen car and possession of amphetamines.
Gage, 38, of Orchard View, Dilton Marsh, appeared at North West Wiltshire Magistrates' Court last Thursday and pleaded guilty to both offences.
Amanda Sawetz, prosecuting, said the owners of the stolen Volkswagen Golf had noticed the car missing from outside their Trowbridge home earlier this month.
Police spotted the Golf being driven by Gage in the Granada service station in Warminster soon after it was reported missing.
Miss Sawetz said that during a police interview Gage said a friend called round on November 2 to show him an abandoned car in Dilton Marsh.
He then recovered it from the location and swapped the number plates to change the vehicle's identity.
Miss Sawetz said: "He had a small amount of amphetamines on him which he said were for his own consumption."
Gage's defence asked for pre-sentence reports to be considered and magistrates adjourned the case until December 14.
Gage was released on unconditional bail.
