It is with great relief and no little excitement that I place on record the appreciation of many people across the town at the decision of Swindon Council to lift the financial pressure on the Clapham/Hobbs Unit.
At the recent ratification committee it was agreed to extend the time for achieving a balanced budget at the unit at least until March 2002.
This extension provides a real opportunity for all parties interested in the future development of this vital day centre to work together with a view to its long term sustainability.
Users, carers, elected members and professional officers will hopefully seek examples of best practice from around the region and work to implement appropriate enhancements.
Thank you Swindon Borough Council, for this opportunity!
