Last Saturday I got dragged into town shopping for Christmas with my wife and son. It was raining, and I knew every man, woman and child was going to be there, but I couldn't get out of it because Supermarine's footy match was off due to the weather.
"Where do I park?" I asked. "Park & Ride," she replied.
At approximately 1pm we arrived at the Park & Ride and a few minutes later a bus pulled in. I timed the journey as ammunition for getting home early it took nine minutes.
We had, I must admit, a pleasant few hours in the town centre before it was time for home at last. We wandered through Theatre Square car park and all the adjacent car parks they were gridlocked
We could actually walk in between cars not having to look left or right because, they weren't going anywhere. We were back on the bus after waiting six minutes and a journey of eight minutes took us back to the Park & Ride. Home in time for the footy results.
Long live the Park & Ride. It really does work. Try it
