RUGBY
Frome 19, Cooper-Avon Tyres 23
WITH the wind and slight slope in their favour, the visitors got off to a dream start in this Dorset and Wilts Division One game when winger Stuart Moore gathered a cross field kick and touched down to open the scoring in the first minute.
Cooper-Avon, playing their best rugby of the season, went 8-0 ahead with a penalty from full back Paul Simmons in the 30th minute. Shortly after left wing Matty Glover rounded the home defence to score a try under the posts, converted by Simmons. A further penalty by Simmons gave the visitors an 18-0 lead at half-time.
The second half started with Frome finally showing why they are favourites to win the league, with centre Mark Turney diving over in the fifth minute.
The Melksham side then had prop Andrew Cadwallerder sin binned for punching which increased the pressure and led to Frome skipper Danny Martland converting his own try to reduce the deficit to six points. Roared on by a large crowd, Frome took the lead when Turney scored his second try, Martland converting.
Frome then camped in the visitors' half but could not add to their score and were made to pay when following an Avon scrum deep in their own 22, Simmons, outstanding all game, made a 40 yard break and set up Matty Glover who with 50 yards still to go outpaced the covering defence to score in the corner. The conversion was missed, but the referee signalled the end of the game leading to jubilant scenes from the Cooper-Avon squad as they celebrated one of the most memorable victories in the club's 22 year history.

North Dorset 6, Trowbridge 11
FULL back Mark Kemp steered Trowbridge through to gain a second league victory of the season with a fine individual performance.
The game was an evenly matched affair in the first half, with the weather and ground conditions being far more influential than either side. The only scores of the first half were two penalties to the home side and a solitary penalty by Kemp for Trowbridge to make the first half score 6-3 to North Dorset.
The second half saw Trowbridge start with far more control and determination and they were unlucky not to score three or four tries in the opening exchanges.
Trowbridge finally got their reward when Kemp crossed for his first league try of the season to give Trowbridge a slender 8-6 lead.
In the final quarter North Dorset were finally able to get out of their own half and gained a penalty in front of the Trowbridge posts, but were surprised to see their kicker slice the ball and miss the penalty.
This spurred Trowbridge on and they drove up the pitch and fly half Sean Sullivan slotted over a drop goal to give the away side a well deserved 11-6 victory.

Despite this Trowbridge put in a creditable performance and never gave up the game and in the second half, despite losing another player to injury, fought back with 12 players and scored two tries from Aaron Bilsden and Dan Hill.
Trowbridge Under 15s 30, Walcot under 15s 0
TROWBRIDGE under 15s produced a fine performance against a highly motivated Walcot side on Sunday and produced a display of continuity rugby which belied the weather and pitch conditions.
Despite poor weather conditions, the Trowbridge side stamped their authority on the game and midway through the first half were rewarded with a try from Liam Brereton.
Soon after the restart Trowbridge drove up the field and deep into opposition territory and were rewarded when Sam Harlow drove through the defence to touch down. Dean Ellis added the conversion to give Trowbridge a 12-0 lead.
Just before the interval both sides exchanged pleasantries and two players were asked to take an early shower. A penalty to Trowbridge was awarded and Dean Ellis slotted the kick over to make the half time score 15-0 to Trowbridge.
In the second half Trowbridge produced a style of rugby that Walcot could not deal with and continual recycling of the ball and interplay between backs and forwards was soon rewarded with a try from Matt Devereaux, who sprinted up the blind side to crash over.
Captain Jack Hanham scored the next try and to end the game Matty Gabb drove over.
