SWINDON lawyer Mark Keenan is claiming a place in the record books after one of his clients got divorced on the Internet.
Paul and Ingrid Wilmott have become the first couple in Britain to get a quickie divorce on-line using Mark's website.
The site, launched earlier this year, now even has chat forums for divorcees-to-be to talk about their problems.
Mr Wilmott, a 40-year-old finance writer from west London, had been surfing in search of a lawyer but found www.divorce-on-line.co.uk instead.
His marriage had fallen apart after four years and an Internet divorce seemed the cheapest and quickest way to go ending it.
He downloaded the divorce pack for £55 in a matter of minutes and returned the paperwork along with his credit card details.
The decree absolute was granted by Bow Street Magistrates Court. He will still have to pay £130 in court fees, but reckons he saved £500 and halved the time it took.
Mr Keenan, 32, of Pembroke Park, came up with the idea after seeing similar American sites.
