SCHOOL pupils who joined the army for a day had the experience of a lifetime.
More than 50 teenagers from Swindon took part in the Great Escape Command Task, part of the Army Personal Development Course run by the Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment (RGBW) Army Youth Team.
The youngsters took part in a series of challenges designed to build their teamworking and self-confidence skills, which included command tasks, archery skills, quad and mountain biking and an assault course.
Warrant Officer (Class II) Chris Hyde, in charge of the RGBW Army Youth Team said: "The course is designed to give 14 to 16 year olds an insight into the army but mainly to have a bit of fun.
"It is a real challenge for kids who tend to spend most of their time watching TV."
