RECALLED goalscorer Gary Alexander was delighted that his first-half strike was enough to bring three points back to the County Ground.
"It's good to be back in the side and scoring goals," he said. "Hopefully we can carry it on from there.
"I could have played better, but the gaffer asked me to do a job, and I went out there and did a job.
"I just worked hard for the lads. But there were 11 of us out there working hard."
Alexander explained the circumstances that led to his goal.
He said: "Danny Invincible went clear and I'm not sure whether he crossed it or shot, but it just deflected square.
"I just carried on running, followed it up and happily it landed perfectly for me and I just stuck it in the net."
Midfielder Ian Woan praised Town's defence for the way they handled Northampton's forwards.
He said: "I think the back four were absolutely outstanding. Alan Reeves and Richard Dryden were absolutely outstanding.
"Richard didn't have the best of starts, but he's a big enough lad. He held his hands up and said he didn't do well, but he's a good professional and he showed it there.
"We knocked it around well. We battled well for the first 15 mins and won the battle. That let us play football and got the goal we deserved."
