STFC Ladies 2, Denham Utd 1: Swindon Town Ladies gained a place in the draw for the semi-final of the Ambassador South West Combination League Cup after this victory over Denham United.

The Town were pushed back in to defence from the start and Charlotte Hunt tested Town keeper Jessica Weir from ten yards.

The Town began to get into the game and Pam Ashman crossed from the right but Kim Reeves' hooked shot was wide of the target. At the other end Hayley Fowler forced her way through the Town defence but her shot went wide of the far post.

Neither side were able to take control and both sets of forwards were getting few chances.

Holly Ashman rounded three defenders but with the keeper beaten her effort fell the wrong side of the post.

The Town began to have more of the play and Leanne Taylor and Holly Ashman interchanged passes but Denham keeper Karen Bunce dealt comfortably with the final shot.

After the break the Town pressed forward but centre back Fiona Campbell was twice in short succession in the right place to clear her lines.

In the 62nd minute the Town took the lead. Holly Ashman cut in from the right before playing the ball in to Georgia Alcock who in turn helped it on to Tracy Peacock whose shot was just inside the far post.

In the 73rd minute the Town got a second. Pam Ashman swung a corner in from the left and Kim Reeves rose above everyone to head the ball into the top corner of the net.

In the last minute of the game Denham pulled one back. They were awarded an indirect free kick ten yards from the Town goal line. Diane George charged down Hayley Fowler's shot but the ball fell to Lynn Westerman on the edge of the box who drove low into the net.

The Town Reserves were beaten 10-1 by Premier Division Chesham in the second round of the Southern Region League Cup. Lucy Bailey got the Town's goal.
