THE feats of explorer David Hempleman-Adams have been celebrated at a civic dinner held in his honour by Swindon Council.
Mr Hempleman-Adams, formerly of Swindon but now of Box, attended the special evening with his daughter Alicia, grandmother Doris and fellow Freeman of the Borough Reg Clarke.
Also there were Paul Doherty, Chief Executive of Swindon Council, Leader of the Council Sue Bates and Deputy Editor of the Evening Advertiser Pauline Leighton.
Swindon Mayor Arthur Archer said: "The idea was to honour David and to say that he is a credit to Swindon and to himself. I praised him for his feats and thanked him for being such a good ambassador for the town."
The explorer received two whisky tumblers at the dinner and, to keep him occupied following his record-breaking navigation of the poles, free passes to use the climbing wall and skating rink at West Swindon's Link Centre.
