PENSIONERS who own a Calne model shop believe scalextric-stealing burglars targeted them for Christmas presents.
Two men threw a breeze block through the window of Modelmaniacs in Church Street at about 3am on Monday, and stole two Scalectrix sets worth more than £100 each.
Trevor Cooper, 69, who runs the shop with his wife Elizabeth, said: "We suspect some poor people couldn't afford those things so decided to rob two pensioners of their savings.
"We run the shop to top up our pensions," he said.
Mr Cooper believes the burglars selected the model car sets, which comprise a complete track and two cars, for presents.
His shop was previously hit nine months ago when thieves unsuccessfully tried to break in.
He is now expecting the bill for a new window to cost about £150.
People living nearby saw two men running from the scene and shouted at them. Police are appealing for witnesses.
