A YOUNG environmentalist from Highworth has won an award for building a website about the rainforests.
Claire Mollart, an 11-year-old pupil at Warneford School, was runner up in a national green themed competition.
Launched in May, it was organised in part by her father Steve's employers, British Telecom and was open only to the families of employees.
Claire built the website, which features charts and pictures, at home with help from her mother, Cathy.
Though Claire had used computers at school, it was her first attempt at building a website and it won her a £50 prize.
Claire said: "I am worried about damage to the rainforest after watching it on the news.
Now Claire will continue to up-date the site in the hope that more people will heed her warning. "The rainforest is very important and we need to look after it."
