DETAILED plans for affordable housing and a new primary school for the Brickley Lane development in Devizes will be submitted soon.

A consortium of developers, headed by Bloor Homes, has started work on building a link road on the site.

Outline planning permission was granted in August for 270 homes to be built on land east of Brickley Lane.

Last Thursday councillors on Kennet District Council's planning sub-committee agreed to defer and delegate to the council's planning services manager an application by the developers on the details of the homes and associated roads, footpaths and a play area.

Planning officer Tim Hounsome told the sub-committee: "The plans for social housing will be in shortly. There is a tight timescale for the school as it is scheduled to be open in September 2002 but the planning application is set to come in soon."
