A STABLE block at West Kennett is to be used for offices and a workshop for the National Trust.
Kennet District Council's planning sub-committee granted permission for alterations and a change at West Kennett Farm Buildings.
A countryside manager and three wardens, who cover the Avebury and North Wiltshire area, will be based in the building.
The building is on the A4 opposite the junction of the minor road leading from West Kennett to Avebury.
Highway chiefs at Wiltshire County Council said there is restricted visibility at the access into the site and called for the application to be refused, but Kennet councillors said because of the low key use of the site, they did not think this would be a problem.
Coun Judith Triggs said she would prefer the building's corrugated roofing to be changed.
But Kennet planning officer Mike Wilmott said the National Trust was planning to reinstate the building's long thatched roof in the future.
The trust has promised to investigate the roof space of the building to see if bats are in existence following a request from Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
