CARE worker William Chessall has been fined £150 by Kennet magistrates in Devizes after police found cannabis resin with a street value of £155 at his home in London Road, Marlborough during a drugs raid on October 13.
Roger Jones, prosecuting, said Chessall, 29, was at home when the raid took place.
He gave the police three pieces of cannabis resin. Officers also seized a hand-rolled cigarette.
Chessall told officers: "I know what you have come for, here it is," and handed them 18.5 grammes of cannabis with a street value of £60.
Drugs officers used dogs to search the house and recovered another lump of cannabis from a waste bin the kitchen.
That piece, Mr Jones told magistrates, weighed 27.2 grammes and was worth approximately £95.
Mr Jones said: "Chessall made a clear and frank confession to the police and told them the cannabis was for his own use."
Stephen Clifford, defending, said Chessall claimed he had paid £70 for the cannabis which he smoked because he was suffering from depression.
Mr Clifford said: "Since his arrest he has not smoked any cannabis."
Chairman of the bench Peter Spinney told Chessall: "Although we accept this was for your personal use, the value and the quantity of the drugs was quite high."
Chessall was ordered to pay costs of £100.
