FAMOUS paintings by artists such as David Hockney and Thomas Gainsborough have found homes at primary schools in and around Swindon exclusive reproductions at least.
Youngsters representing Charter and King's Lodge primary schools in Chippenham and Maud Heath County Primary School in East Tytherton have received the colourful, specially produced pictures, teachers pack and video from John Salen, manager of Sainsbury's Chippenham store.
The works of art are being donated as part of Sainsbury's Pictures for Schools Scheme, a project designed to inspire both children and their teachers and to encourage an enjoyment and appreciation of art.
This year over 1,300 primary schools, chosen by the staff of their local Sainsbury's, will take part in the scheme.
There are no constraints placed upon participating schools other than the pictures be well maintained and hung where all the pupils can enjoy them.
On Monday it will be the turn of youngsters from Grange Junior School, Nythe County School, Eldene Junior School and South Marston Primary School to receive some of the specially produced pictures from the Sainsbury's store in Oxford Road, Stratton.
