TELEVISION stars are getting to grips with the script for this year's Christmas pantomine in Swindon.

They are in town rehearsing for the show, which starts next week.

Taking the title role in the production of Aladdin is Peta Janossi, alias Aleetza Wood (centre).

Aleetza dropped in earlier in the year to check out the theatre. She performed a daredevil 10,000ft parachute jump with the Gloucestershire-based Shape Skydivers before visiting the Wyvern.

"The staff at the theatre are wonderful and make you feel at home,'' said Aleetza.

Coronation Street's Geoff Hinsliff and Juliette Kaplan from Last of the Summer Wine are also in the show as Widow Twanky and Slave of the Ring.

Dennis Spencer is Abanazar and he will also be directing the panto.

Bobby Dazzler is Wishee Washee and Charles Vance is the producer with the Tanwood dancers adding their own special magic.

No panto would be complete without clowns and Tweedy and Alexis make the perfect Chinese policemen.

Aladdin runs from December 15 to January 2001 at Swindon's Wyvern Theatre. Tickets are £12.50 and £13.50 from Swindon 524481.
