TRADITIONAL playground games are set for a come back at Freshbrook Primary School thanks to a new initiative launched by the school.
Deputy headteacher Jane Parsons explained: "A number of the older children from year six are being trained as play leaders. Their role is to help supervise and organise a number of play activities for the rest of the youngsters at the school."
She added that there has been a steady decline in traditional playground games such as skipping and singing rhymes, in favour of more up to date crazes such as Pokemon cards.
Mrs Parsons said: "It has been a real success. The younger children really enjoy themselves."
