IN these weeks of doom and gloom when the rain never ceases, the trains have ground to a near halt, and everyone is endlessly struggling through longer and longer traffic jams, one man's consistent cheerfulness is a ray of sunshine.
In all weather, come rain or shine, snow or hail, the lollipop patrol man at Southgate in Devizes not only safely shepherds everyone across the busy junction but unfailingly has a broad smile and a cheery wave for everyone.
I am sure I speak for many other drivers coming into town every morning along the Potterne Road, who are already feeling fraught after queueing for up to fifteen minutes, when I say a smile does really brighten up the day.
If only everyone could muster such a cheerful approach, I am sure we'd all feel a lot better.
