THE FOLLOWING letter is a response to the Give us Signs for Safety (Wiltshire Times, November 24).
Alas Mrs Rawlings, we have signs which we thought would make Avenue Road safe but they are to no avail.
We have a school at both ends of this road, a passage way for large number of children twice a day.
A report to the police that no entry and no lorry signs are being violated elicited only a brief phone call mostly regarding traffic speed, which we also think excessive, but apparently nothing can be done.
Like you, I fear accidents. My husband is blind and having lorries travelling at speed down a road banned to them is unexpected to say the least, and this is not to mention the car that approached through a no entry sign whose driver actually shook a fist at me for not getting out of the way fast enough.
What more can we do?
MRS ANN TURNBULL,
Avenue Road,
Trowbridge.
