WILTSHIRE LEAGUE

HUNDREDS of supporters were left disappointed after Trowbridge Town's visit to Bradford Town for a the Skurray's Wiltshire League derby on Saturday became yet another victim of the current problems with waterlogged pitches.

Many supporters turned up for the match, unaware of the postponement, and Trowbridge Town manager Alan Roberts was disappointed with the late decision not to play.

"The game was cancelled on Saturday morning. We tried to let people know it was off, but there's nothing we can do," he said.

"I had trouble stopping my team from turning up. I felt it could have gone ahead. Everyone made a lot of the match, and there could have been a crowd of around 450 people. That would have been a fair amount of gate money for Bradford. Now we've only played two matches in seven weeks," he added.

Trowbridge are facing a struggle to fit all of their fixtures in and are due to play Westbury United Reserves on Saturday, when they will unveil new signing Jerad O' Pray. The 20-year-old centre forward has joined from Devizes Town and is the son of Trowbridge assistant manager Andy O' Pray. Roberts hopes the signing will help ease his availability crisis, with an injury list of as many as eight players at times this season.
