LANDLORD of the White Swan pub in Trowbridge, Peewee Hunt, has been granted an entertainment and drinking licence which will allow his pub to stay open until 1am, and also to serve alcohol until that time.
Mr Hunt, who used to own Peewee's in Castle Street, applied for the entertainment licence so that he could open his pub on three nights a week for live music and discos.
Mr Hunt said: "Peewee's on Castle Street had an excellent reputation for good live music, and I am aiming to build the same reputation here at the White Swan."
With so many late night venues in Trowbridge, the police had been wary of another pub opening until 1am.
Andy Powell, of Pubwatch said: "There is general caution when granting late licences in Trowbridge, but there are so many now, it is difficult to say no to one place, and allow another to have a licence.
"The White Swan is a pub that is a member of Pubwatch, it has recently been refurbished, and there have never been any problems there, so I don't see that we would have any problem with it being open until one o'clock."
