A WORKER died after being electrocuted during cable-laying work near Wootton Bassett.
Liverpudlian Steven Curren, a married 32-year- old construction worker, was working at Hunters Hall, Trow Lane, near Gritten-ham, when the accident happened.
Attempts were made to resuscitate him but he was certified dead at the scene.
He was working for Liverpool-based civil engineering company Construct Well.
Wootton Bassett police spokesman Steve Coxhead said: "The company was laying cables and during that process a lighting trailer was being used, which struck power cables.
"Unfortunately Mr Curren was electrocuted. People at the scene tried to help including Detective Constable Tim Davis, but all attempts failed."
The Health and Safety Executive has launched an investigation into the accident, which happened at around 7pm on Wednesday.
