The UNITED MILK development on Westbury's Northacre Industrial Park has moved a step closer after plans for an access road, gatehouse and weighbridge were approved.
Councillors at the southern area committee approved the application which would provide an access road to the milk processing plant, and a gatehouse and wheel washing facility for tankers.
Objections were raised to the scheme by several councillors who felt the gatehouse was substandard in terms of its design.
Cllr John Annetts said: "It is a very prestigious site and looks like it is going down the cheap list."
Cllr Alison Irving said: "I have supported United Milk coming as this ensures we don't lose everything on the site to services industries."
