ANDY King is delighted with Bobby Howe's response to the County Ground 'boo boys'.

The Geordie midfielder has been one of the main targets for the fans' frustration during Town's recent struggle.

The player himself has been reluctant to speak out about his treatment, preferring instead to do his talking on the field.

Howe was one of the Town players jeered off after a dismal showing against Stoke City, but he fully merited the applause which greeted the final whistle at Northampton.

King has never questioned the player's ability.

"There is no doubt in my mind that Bobby Howe has qualities as a footballer.

"He can handle the ball, he is prepared to work and he works well with other players," said King.

The Town boss said Howe needed to attack with greater confidence and be more positive in his play.

King also praised the performance of Mark Robinson, another target of the fans recently.

The player lined up in his favoured traditional right back slot at Northampton for last week's surprise 1-0 win.

"I have been asking him to play out of position in recent weeks as a wing back which is not really his forte," said the Town manager.
