A SERVICE promoting Swin-don and its events to tourists and residents closed on Thurs-day.
Swindon Information Centre in Regent Street was getting a facelift because it has proved so popular extra room was needed for counter staff.
The centre attracts 180,000 visits and phone calls every year.
Visitor services manager Mike Crowley said: "A new public counter is one of a number of improvements we are making.
"We shall soon be piloting a new Wiltshire wide Destin-ation Management System.
" This is a web-based information and booking system which will enable us to deal with accommodation enquiries more quickly and efficiently."
Funded by Swindon Council, the centre is due to celebrate its 30th birthday next year.
