A SWINDON school has been given a glowing report following a recent inspection by an OFSTED team.

Staff of Robert Le Kyng School have been praised for their standards of teaching and the care of the 382 pupils.

And the inspectors awarded the school in Westcott Street three points higher than the national average for English, maths and science the first school in Swindon to achieve this score.

The report stated that head teacher Maran White provided outstanding and knowledgeable leadership and had a clear idea of the direction the school should be taking and the ways in which it should be improved.

Mrs White praised all her staff for the good report. She said "I am particularly pleased the inspectors recognised the contribution made by all members of the school community, teaching and non-teaching staff.

"It is a tremendous credit to the teaching staff that there were no unsatisfactory lessons, and that 70 per cent were good, very good or excellent."

There were some areas highlighted for improvement including levels of attainment in information technology, and pupils' awareness of different ethnic groups living in Britain.
