IAN Woan clearly enjoyed Town's second-half performance against Gateshead, when he and his fellow midfielders were in complete control.

"You're entitled to play like that against non-league opposition," he said. "You've just got to be professional for the first 20 minutes, then hopefully the class will out.

"They gave a good battle, for the first half. The gaffer had a little pop at half-time. We weren't doing what we should be doing.

"We gave them a little bit too much credit. You've got to get after sides like that and frighten them.

"In the second half we showed when we upped our game that we can score goals."

Woan was full of praise for his midfield colleagues.

He said: "Keith O'Halloran had a magnificent game. He could have had a hat-trick if he'd been a little bit more selfish.

"He's a great player to play with. He's very unselfish, he works tirelessly and he can play on the right, the left or the middle.

"His first strike was fantastic and the second was just as good.

"I was at Forest with Bobby Howe and he's a very talented player. I was surprised that he gets booed when the team-sheet's being read out, because Bobby always works hard.

"He wasn't showing what he is capable of doing, but in the last two or three games, I think he has.

"Steve Cowe came on and was tremendous."

Captain Alan Reeves said: "We scored early on which helped settle us down, and a great goal it was as well.

"We weren't too happy at half time with the way we were playing, although it was a typical scrappy cup tie.

"Once we got the second goal we just went on to better things. We played some good stuff and could have had more than five."

Mark Robinson said: "The win and the clean sheet are something to take into the game against Rotherham."

"No-one seems to bother too much about the first and second rounds. It's all about FA Cup third round day and we're pleased to be there."
