ANTOINE Van Der Linden is more used to stopping goals than scoring them.

Town's Dutch defender has found himself thrust forward on several occasions this season but started a game as a striker for the first time against Millwall at the New Den last night.

"I thought I did alright during the game and it seemed to work quite well with Gary Alexander," he said.

"I enjoy it up front and I worked hard to try and keep the ball.

"I really hoped we could nick a goal before the end but I thought we battled really well and deserved our victory in the end."

Van der Linden said the players were delighted to have beaten the league leaders on their own ground.

"We know the game with Port Vale on Saturday is really the most important one but hopefully the win will give us a boost and we can get the three points we need."

Town's summer signing praised the travelling supporters for their contribution to the victory and said they had been magnificent throughout the game and kept up the volume.

"They were tremendous," he said.
