Wiltshire League: Wroughton's top marksman Glenn Armstrong, who has been attracting some interest from Nationwide League scouts, scored yet another hat-trick in his side's 3-0 Premier Division win over Pewsey Vale Reserves.
He scored the first after just five minutes, following a good move between Guthrie and Phillips, then added a second mid-way through the half from the penalty spot after being brought down in the box. Late in the second half a mistake by the Pewsey keeper let in Armstrong to score a third.
Stratton Crosslink are beginning to trail in the Premier Division title chase after being beaten at home by Bradford Town, 2-1.
After a goalless first half Bradford's Robbie Simmons scored ten minutes into the half with a good free kick and Charlie Powell added a second with a speculative 40-yarder that eluded the home keeper. Steve Shaw netted for the Swindon side ten minutes from time to ensure a lively final ten minutes of the game.
Biddestone gained a comfortable 3-1 win over an improving Cricklade Town side. Paul Poiner, Tim Tasker and Elliott Williams netted for the home side.
Aldbourne, struggling near the foot of the table, picked up three valuable points beating Malmesbury Vics Reserves on their own ground 2-1, Gavin Baron and Tim Beech scoring for the victors and Roger Smith netting for the home side.
Devizes Town Reserves were the day's highest scorers beating Warminster Town Reserves 11-1 in a one-sided affair.
Bottom of the table Warminster have just one point to show from their 13 games, but to their credit continue to keep pegging away. Devizes were well on top for most of the game, with John Burns netting four, Jamie Rowe and Andy Davis scoring a hat-trick apiece, and Gary Campbell also getting his name on the score sheet.
Runaway leaders of the section, Shrewton United, added a further three points to their impressive tally after beating Westbury United Reserves 3-0, all the goals coming in the first half.
Jesse Walters opened the scoring from a free kick early on, and added a second midway through the half with a strike into the top corner. Just before the break Walters got into the act again, threading a ball through for Dean Foot to run on to and score the third.
After the break United keeper Alan Burwell was called upon to make a good stop early in the half and at the other end, Shrewton missed several opportunities to increased their lead.
Trowbridge Town kept the second spot in the table but only just, after beating Marlborough Town by the only goal of the game, scored by Mark Connor after just four minutes.
Kevin Coombley, the Marlborough boss, thought his side deserved at least a point. "We missed quite a few chances and shaded the game for long periods."
Marlborough Town Reserves made up for his disappointment beating Aldbourne Reserves 2-0 in the Junior section, 16-year-old Jonathan Maslin scoring his sixth goal in three games and Andy Deery adding a second.
Melksham Town Reserves player-manager, Stewart Irons, was on target for his side in their 4-2 away win over Corsham Town Reserves, Nathan Gant, Lee Bramley and Tony Kelly also finding the net, while for Corsham, Frank Rogers and Tom Bond were on target.
Top match in the Intermediate section between leaders Blunsdon United and second-placed Ashton Keynes resulted in a 3-1 victory for United, Danny Pearson (2) and Dennis Wheatley scoring for the victors, and a Martin Jackson penalty for Ashton. Blunsdon also had Justin Pearson sent off.
Zarlink, third in the table with games in hand over the leaders, gained a 2-1 win over visitors Dunbar Westside.
Craig Roberts gave Dunbar an interval lead, Mark Connolly equalising soon after the restart. Dunbar's Geoff Swatton then shot wide from the penalty spot and the miss proved costly when Sean Freeman snatched the winner for Zarlink in the last quarter of the game.
Goals from Neil Brimson (2), Alan Byrne and Dale Sawyer gave Wanborough United a comfortable 4-1 win over Down Ampney, Nigel Clarke replying for the visitors.
Castrol are proving a difficult side to beat these days, and ran out winners at Sherston by five goals to two, Brendan Graham completing a hat-trick, Nick Camden and Graham Mitchell the scorers, with Jim Neil and Mike Ward netting for the home side.
Bottom club Calne Town Reserves picked up a useful point in a 1-1 draw with Stratton Crosslink Reserves, Dean Slade netting for Calne.
In the Junior division, Wootton Bassett United kept their unbeaten tag at Minety, winning 2-1, David Aaran scoring for the home side, and Kevin Bray (2) for United.
Leaders Swindon Eagles were in action in the Fountain Trophies Junior Cup, beating West Swindon 4-0, Wayne Petrie scoring twice to bring his season's total to 27, and Dave Levitt and Neil Herring adding further goals.
Also in the cup Wroughton Reserves beat Cricklade Reserves in a penalty shoot-out after the sides were level on one goal apiece after extra time.
Wroughton made things difficult for themselves, having top scorer Richard Perrett sent off after just five minutes, and with no sub to replace an injured player played the last half hour with nine men. Matthew Gleed netted for Cricklade in extra time, and Wayne Taylor for Wroughton.
Down Ampney Reserves gained a 3-1 win over Wootton Bassett A in the third round of the competition, with Nick Stevenson (2) and Matt Jackson on target.
