MATTY HEWLETT confessed that Town had started sloppily at Bloomfield Road but felt a draw would not have flattered Roy Evans' men.
The midfielder tried in vain to create the opening which would have brought Town an equaliser but was left to reflect on a second successive defeat.
The former Bristol City man said: "I didn't think we deserved anything for our first half performance.
"After the break we've created a few chances for ourselves.
"I thought we were a bit unlucky in the end not to come away with anything."
Hewlett felt Town had not really done themselves justice but credit should not be taken away from Blackpool for their performance.
He said the Seasiders had come out all guns blazing and set their stall out to play a high tempo game.
Hewlett said: "We couldn't deal with it, particularly in the first half.
"But as I said, I think we sorted ourselves out a bit in the second half and I can't think that they had too many clear-cut chances.
But when chances come your way you have to take them."
Hewlett was delighted to see referee Roy Pearson point to the spot with the game in the dying seconds.
He said while it was always frustrating not to see spot kicks hit the back of the net, there was no chance of any of the Town players turning on the culprit, in this case, Danny Invincible.
He said: "Danny's disappointed but no-one is going to point the finger. He had the courage to take it and you can't argue with that.
"Unfortunately I think you have to put the game down as 'one of those days' that you get from time to time in football."
The midfielder said the defeat would not shatter confidence in the camp.
"We weren't able to grind out a result against Blackpool and 3-0 wasn't a true reflection of the game against Stoke. I'm sure we'll bounce back."
He said: "We have a break from the league next week and let's see if we can get a nice little run going in the FA Cup.
"It won't be easy against Hartlepool but at least we're at home and you can't really ask for more than that."
