Swindon produced some of their best rugby of the season but left it too late against a strong High Wycombe outfit, losing 14-11 in Southern Counties South.
For the first half Swindon didn't perform as well as they could and gave High Wycombe too much respect.
Wycombe looked a professional organised team in their pre-match preparation, but on the field they did not play that way.
Swindon, again playing with last-minute changes, failed to perform as well as they can and had proved the week before.
In the first half, several mistakes from both sides made it a scrappy affair.
Swindon were first on the scoresheet with a Neil Maycock penalty.
There were chances, but Swindon failed to finish them off or take the best option.
High Wycombe had a fast, elusive back line, and counterattacked at every opportunity.
Their first score came from a driving maul which started at a lineout 10 metres out. The try was converted, but that was the only time they got close to Swindon's line in the first half.
Swindon made a couple of changes shortly after half-time which seemed to lift them. Much of the second half was also played in the visitors' territory
But one breakout, against the run of play, caused their downfall as the visitors scored and converted another try.
Swindon immediately replied with another Maycock penalty, but minutes later a further attempt shaved the upright.
With Swindon still playing catch-up, they went close with driving maul from a lineout, but the opposition defence stole the ball to clear their lines.
The score seemed destined to come eventually with the amount of pressure Swindon were exerting on the Wycombe defence, and it did.
After 10 phases of play with the ball going from left of the field far out to the right then back again several times, Andrew Prowse finally crossed to score wide out on the left. The score was unconverted but Swindon closed the gap to 14-11.
With 15 minutes to play, they threw everything at the High Wycombe defence.
In the dying minutes a ball spun wide out to the left saw debutant Rob Staynings take on the Wycombe defence, chipping over his opposite number, only for the ball to bounce into the path of the defender rather than himself .
Cricklade and Supermarine drew a hard, physical match 5-5.
Cricklade scored the first try 10 minutes before half-time with the scorer hooker Jason Johnson.
But Supermarine came straight back to even the match up with a try of their own.
