SUPPORTERS of the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal can now raise a very special glass to servicemen past and present.
That is because Safeway's Haydon Wick store has begun stocking a special whisky blend currently being marketed by the Legion.
Safeway is exclusively offering customers Legion Scotch Whisky, described as "a quality Speyside style blend, sweet and rich with hints of vanilla and fruit notes."
A donation from the sale of each bottle and a related beer brand called Poppy Pride Ale will be made to the Legion's 2001 Poppy Appeal.
Priced at £9.99 for a 70cl bottle, the whisky is already selling well at Haydon Wick, which took delivery of 72 bottles last week.
Organisers are hoping to raise more than £20 million for the appeal this year, with money raised going to the Legion's welfare and resettlement work for ex-Service people and their dependents.
