TWO serious road accidents near Chippenham left one driver dead and several others seriously injured.
One involved three sports cars on the B4069 between Lyneham and Chippenham.
The accident, at 2.45pm yesterday, happened outside Holme Farm at Christian Malford.
A body was trapped in the wreckage of a Porsche, a BMW was totally burned out, and a TVR Tuscan car ended up in a field.
Police closed the road, a busy commuter route, for several hours, causing problems in the evening rush hour.
A man police described as being in a serious condition was also airlifted to the Royal United Hospital in Bath yesterday, following a bus crash.
Police said the bus, operated by Chippenham firm Fosseway Coaches, left the road and hit a tree on the A4 at Chequers Hill, Chippenham, at 12.15pm yesterday.
The crash left the bus in a field and around a dozen "walking wounded" passengers.
A van was also involved in the accident. The bus was a write-off.
