RESIDENTS on a housing estate near Lacock said they are feeling positive following a meeting to discuss ways of clearing up and improving their area.
People living on the Corsham Road housing estate, two miles from picturesque Lacock, claimed the area is in a terrible state, with overgrown verges strewn with rubbish.
Last Friday, residents met with representatives of North Wiltshire District Council, Wiltshire County Council, Westlea Housing Association and Lacock Parish Council.
North Wiltshire MP James Gray chaired the meeting, which was organised by residents' group So 2 It.
Carol Elford, 46, of Rosemary House, said residents had agreed to keep a log of incidents and problems to build up better links with local agencies.
She said the district council had agreed to provide an extra industrial strength dustbin, and Lacock Parish Council had agreed to providing an occasional street cleaner.
Westlea Housing Association had also agreed to create more car parking spaces.
"It was huge meeting and very positive," said Mrs Elford.
"We are now looking at a far more positive new year than we have had in recent years."
Peter Legg, of Rosemary House, said he was also satisfied following the meeting. "I really enjoyed the meeting and now have confidence living in my flat," he said.
