AN entertaining presentation, entitled Nelson Remembered by Wiltshire Historical Drama Group, History at Large, provided an illuminating evening for an appreciative audience at Wootton Bassett Library.
History at Large is an Arts project created by George Fleming and Sue Paramor, who have exploited historical information through drama, slides and sound effects.
They have undertaken an immense amount of research, and take pride in the accuracy of their presentations, which include excerpts from authentic correspondence as well as details about the personalities they depict.
"We do not confine ourselves to the live documentary style of presentation which we used at Wootton Bassett," said Mr Fleming, who was narrator for the evening.
"We also do plays, musicals and variety shows, but whatever the method, the history is always as accurate and unbiased as serious research and writing can make it."
In Nelson Remembered the group featured all the major incidents in the life of the famous Englishman who came from a family of eight and joined the Navy at 12. Dave Rawlinson, who sang to his own guitar accompaniment, added another dimension.
