REPRESENTATIVE teams from the Screwfix Direct League and the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League will do battle for the first time at Yate Town's Lodge Road ground on Tuesday night, kick off 7.30pm.
Devizes Town midfielder Nigel Curtis is the only player from the league's six Wiltshire clubs to have been selected by Screwfix manager and former Bristol Rovers striker David Mehew.
The county is better represented in the Hellenic team, with Highworth Town pair Matthew Goodwin and Dave Webb included in John Fisher's squad alongside Purton's Martin Thompson.
Two other notable inclusions in the Screwfix squad are ex-Chippenham Town pair Ian Jones and Lee Burns.
Former Bluebirds skipper Burns left Hardenhuish Park in the summer and has been in fine form for Bath City Reserves, while Brislington goalkeeper Jones departed following Chippenham's FA Cup exit at St Blazey in September.
Screwfix League secretary Ken Clarke is looking forward to an interesting evening and hopes the clash will become a regular event.
He said: "I don't think we've ever played them. The last time we had a representative match was in 1992 when we played an FA XI during the league's centenary celebrations.
"I believe it is the sort of thing we've got to encourage for the sake of local football. We are hoping this will start a series of representative matches and is something we spoke about last year but couldn't do because of the bad weather.
"We're looking forward to going to Yate and will look to invite them over to one of our grounds nearer the end of the season."
