Rangers made the better start, with some sharp and sparkling football and deservedly went 1-0 up on 15 minutes when Ben Thomas finished off a splendid run down the left flank.
The turning point came in the period two minutes either side of half-time when Rangers conceded a penalty which was superbly converted by Jack Slade. Within two minutes of the start of the second half Joe Sanger, who was clearly the star of the Bemerton side, scored a sensational goal after a great run down the right. Rangers, however, would not lie down and equalised with 15 minutes to go after a long throw by Mark Ferris and a flick on by James Thomas left Steven Best alone on the edge of the six-yard line to thump the ball into the top of the net.
This looked to be the last of the scoring and the points looked to be shared but Joe Sanger had other ideas as he pounced on an error in the Rangers midfield and shot past Robert Treviss in the Rangers goal.
