A TEENAGED actor from Tisbury is poised to become a household name after landing a star role in television's newest soap.
Joe Jacobs, who trained in performing arts at Salisbury College, auditioned for ITV's Night and Day after two casting directors appeared on morning television and invited teenagers to an open audition.
He beat off competition from 2,000 other hopefuls and convinced the programme makers that he was perfect for the part of Jimmy Doyle, only son of pub landlord Charlie Doyle, played by Gareth Hunt.
Joe (18) described his first professional acting job as exciting but very strenuous.
