STAFF at St Mary's School, Calne, are to raise safety concerns with Wiltshire County Council after another member of staff was hit by a car in Curzon Street.
School housemistress Nuala Bailey is currently off work and suffering from a badly bruised shoulder and neck and pulled ligaments after being hit by a van.
Other staff say the narrow stretch of road, between the school and the Wheatsheaf pub, which has no pavement on either side, is a danger to pedestrians.
It is the main route from the independent school into the town centre.
Mrs Bailey who was badly bruised and has suffered a lot of pain since the accident last week, said: "I was walking down the road, as I have done for 11 years. A van was coming behind me and it hit me on the shoulder and neck and pushed me against the wall.
"My first reaction was that I was going to fall into the road," she said.
The driver of the van stopped to ask if she was all right and dialled 999.
She was taken to Chippenham Hospital and later to Princess Margaret Hospital in Swindon for X-rays.
School nurse Lynda Reeves said it was not the first time a member of staff had been injured while walking along the narrow stretch of road.
"Now yet another person has been seriously injured whilst walking down the narrow stretch," she said.
"Lorries pull over to the kerb, to make room for on-coming traffic to pass, and their wing mirrors hit people walking by.
"There is no pavement to talk of on either side of the road, making it particularly hazardous for mothers with pushchairs or prams, and elderly people with walking aids."
Mrs Bailey said she didn't know how long it would be before she could return to work and she will be writing to Wiltshire County Council's highways department to complain.
"Something must be done by the council to stop any more of these horrific accidents," said Mrs Reeves.
Calne's area highways officer Emil Raubenheimer, said the county council was aware the road was a problem.
"At the moment we are going through public consultation to decide whether and what kind of traffic calming scheme to introduce along Curzon Street and Wood Street," he said.
"We are serious about doing something about it and are working together with Calne Town Council."
