PENSIONER Mavis Rigden is hoping High Court action will win the £50,000 she needs for home support following an accident four years ago when she was hit by a car.
Mrs Rigden, 63, was walking along the B3098 near Erlestoke Prison in November 1997 when she was struck from behind by a Nissan Micra.
She is now suing for compensation for the injuries she suffered.
"Since the accident I am scared to go out because I have become so forgetful. I am afraid I will be unable to get back home," she said.
"It has meant I am now virtually a prisoner in my own home. My son Lloyd, who lives with me, has been wonderful. I couldn't manage without him, but it is unfair to leave it all to him. I need help in the house."
It has taken four years for the case to come to court.
Mrs Rigden said she feels it has gone on forever. "I just want it to be all over and done with so I can get on with my life."
A High Court writ was transferred to the Queen's Bench Division of the High Court in London in September. A preliminary hearing took place on November 8 but no date has been set for the action.
