WHEN Railtrack commissioned the Swindon Arts Community Fund to come up with artwork to promote safety issues related to railways, it was only too pleased to help.
SACF along with Headlands and Ridgeway schools, and Swindon artists Mike Juggins and Sue Deedigan all got involved.
Rosa Matheson, director of SACF said: "It is refreshing to see business being bold and thinking creatively in order to get their message across. The project will be involving young people and looking to them to sell on their message to their peers."
The project started on Friday with a group of Year 11 students from Headlands School visiting Swindon station and having a talk with a station supervisor. This was followed by a journey on a train down to Chippenham and back.
"We plan to tackle the safety issues by looking at design and image and the marketing of the message through a 2D poster campaign," said Mike Juggins.
The outcome will be an exhibi-tion of the work to be displayed in Swindon town centre.
