PENSIONER Ann Baston-Pitt was banned from the road for a year after she was caught drink driving on the way home from the pub.
The 62-year-old was going home from the Liden Arms to prepare a late Sunday lunch when she was stopped by police who noticed she was driving slowly.
And after failing a breath test she provided a sample of blood which was found to have 102mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 80mg.
Olive Catton , prosecuting, said Baston-Pitt's white Fiat Uno was travelling at about 5mph to 10mph when police noticed it. When it pulled up in a parking space at the rear of Hallam Moor a policewoman went to speak to her and smelled alcohol on her breath.
Baston-Pitt, of White Edge Moor, pleaded guilty to one charge of driving with excess alcohol.
In mitigation Martin Rae said his client had been preparing a meal for friends and had walked to the pub earlier in the day before returning home to check the food.
As it had started to rain he said she stupidly drove back to the pub and while she was there accepted another drink before driving home, when she was stopped.
Magistrates banned her for a year, fined her £100 with £55 costs .
