CHILDREN from Liden Pre-School enjoyed a special lunch out at one of Swindon's Indian restaurants.
They are taking part in Cultural Awareness Week, and their supervisor Linda Jenkins decided to give them the experience of Indian cuisine.
They helped chefs at the Jewel in the Crown in Old Town make naan bread, and tasted delicacies like onion bhajis, popadums and vegetable samosas.
The children were shown around the restaurant by its owner Muzammil Ali.
Linda said: "They have all really enjoyed this experience, it has allowed them the freedom of exploring new areas.
"It was really kind of Mr Ali to allow us to attend his restaurant, and for him to spare the time to teach the children how to make bread.
"The whole experience has been fun through learning."
The youngsters have also been celebrating Diwali, the Indian festival of light, which included making their own 'Diva lights'.
Linda said: "This particularly captured the children's attention because of the colours. Diwali is a very colourful festival and colours always keep children interested."
The children took part in dressing up in traditional Indian clothing, playing with musical instruments and dancing.
Mr Ali said: "Schools all across Swindon have been to see us at the restaurant. We show the children how to make many different dishes. It's a good way of inviting people to the restaurant, as they could be future customers."
