I am somewhat surprised but pleased to see that the people of the town are making their feelings known regarding the vandalising of Devizes Market Place.
One letter said: "The arrogance of our local representatives has been breathtaking.
"They have ignored all public opinion, and this is quite plain to see when the first protest signatures were put forward regarding the change of the Market Place they were told it would be reviewed in 12 months time. I feel this was arrogance at its highest level."
I only wish the town had shown this present protest enthusiasm when the same council closed down the Assize Court building and allowed it to fall into dereliction.
I feel the loss of this fine building is on par of what is happening to the Market Place.
We are told that the museum is wanting to move from Long Street so as to have more room for its Bronze section, which is of world renown in the archaeology world.
Surely a museum such as that of Devizes should be placed in a building such as that of the Assize Court building and not some modern monstrosity and I feel the Lottery would have no grounds to refuse money for this.
