A COMMUNITY-RUN pre-school has a waiting list of children in its first week.
Cygnets pre-school in Westbury Leigh celebrated is official opening day on Friday.
In the first week, 28 children attended sessions at the Baptist Church Hall, with more wanting to join.
Funds for the project were raised throughout the year.
Debbie Gough, chairman of the fundraising committee, said: "It was lovely to see them coming through the door on the first day. We didn't even have any tears."
Mrs Gough said: "I would like to thank everyone who has helped us: Westbury Town Council, Colour Craft Carpets, Custom Carpets Warehouse and Mary Murray of Westbury Leigh Primary School."
The committee hopes eventually to move the school to the new community centre planned at Leigh Park.
It is also looking for a qualified play assistant to join the staff. Anyone interested can call Debbie Gough on (01373) 858291.
