A SPECIAL mobile air monitoring station has been set up by the Environment Agency as part of its on-going policing of Blue Circle's cement works, Westbury.
The specialist unit, which has been placed in the village of Bratton, will contain sensitive equipment that will continuously analyse local air quality.
The unit will be in operation for around four months and has been set up in the village following concerns from local residents about the works' impact on air quality in the area.
Colin Babb, the Environment Agency inspector, said: "This is highly specialised equipment that moves around the country for tests like these.
"It gives us another tool in our regulation of Blue Circle's Westbury works and will provide extra information for everyone to study. Local residents have raised concerns about air quality in Bratton so this will help establish the facts over a period of many weeks."
Blue Circle's authorisation to burn tyres also requires the firm to monitor air quality in the Westbury works' vicinity.
