TWO very brave members of staff from West Wiltshire Housing Society will sit in a bath of custard today at 1pm to raise funds for BBC's Children In Need and Dorothy House Hospice.
Community warden, Mavis Newman and society chief executive, Stewart Mountfield will brave the cold weather and share a custard bath outside the society's Trowbridge-based offices.
Staff have been raising funds for the hospice throughout the year by taking part in various social events and they hope to present the funds to Dorothy House Hospice in the new year.
When asked about how he felt sitting in gooey custard, Mr Mountfield said: "It's not the most sensible way to raise money but it's not something that happens every day so staff are more likely to pay to have a good laugh at us!"
Money raised today will go to the Children In Need appeal and Winsley-based hospice.
On Saturday there will be a fete at Grove Court, College Road at 11am which has been organised by housing society wardens.
Meanwhile, 40 young men from Wiltshire College Lackham will take a break from their studies to pull a six-tonne New Holland tractor around the college grounds to raise a smile and money for charity.
Nursery school children at Leapfrog Day Nursery, in Chippenham, are also doing their bit as they, and staff, dress up as nursery rhyme characters.
Nursery manager, Rachel Spanswick said: "The children are really excited."
