TROWBRIDGE LEAGUE: THE first round of the A and B Cup (sponsored by Just Signs Trowbridge) threw up a repeat of last years final between Bradford Town Reserves and Broughton Gifford.
Steve Roddy put Town ahead with a header after 15 minutes and a superb second half equaliser from Dave Welsh took the game into extra time.
The decisive goal came when Town's keeper misjudged Matt Coles free-kick, the ball finding the back of net via a home defender.
Bradford Sports took a 2-0 lead at Dursley Arms through Mark Powell and Jake Davison. Robin Walker pulled a goal back before the break. In the second half both goalkeepers saved penalties.
Mark Thompson put Bradford United 201 ahead at Heytesbury, but by the interval Heytesbury were in control with goals from Mark James, Steve Wyatt and Steve Bidgood, who later added a second goal.
Blue Circle also had to come from a goal down to put out Foresters Arms. The visitors led for 45 minutes through a Jeremy Curtis goal. Kevin Williams snatched an equaliser on 56 minutes. Blue Circle settled the tie with three goals in the last 15 minutes from Steve Martin (penalty), Wayne Bristow and Ryan Med.
King Alfred Chippenham led 1-0 through Lee Tatum before being swamped by Rudloe, Charles Young (2), Stuart Hynds, Matt Dancey, Simon Matthews, Paul Newbury plus an own goal from Pete Savage contributing to a 7-1 scoreline.
Steeple Ashton were outgunned at Deverills where the home side scored twice in each half through Scott Laidlaw, Scott Gallazi and Alan Casson (2). Gary Rowley scored a consolation goal for Ashton.
In Division One of the league (sponsored by Premier Training and Development) Castle Combe moved to within two points of leaders Broughton Gifford with a game in hand. Combe won 4-0 at Seend United with goals from Jamie Winks, Steve Cleverley (2) and Shaun House.
Trowbridge Town Reserves took a clear lead at the top of Division Two, after beating Bratton Reserves 3-1. Chris Tricker's opener in the first half was wiped out with a wonder goal from Bratton's Ryan Woolford. Tricker won Town a penalty which Neil Kirkpatrick converted before Dave Percival sealed victory.
Lavington and Easterton fielded their strongest side this season but Hilperton United's Ian Baker settled the game with a first half strike. Lavington had John Chenoweth sent off 10 minutes from time.
Division Three leaders Deverills Reserves won 6-1 at Castle Combe Reserves, with goals from Paul Clarke (3), Simon Mead, Matt Pinnell plus an own goal.
Westbury United A raced to a 5-0 interval lead against Apetito, with goals from Mark Collier (2), Lee Hayward (2) and Andrew Craig. Apetito rallied in the second period to score three times through Dean Stevens (penalty), Richard Gibbs and Ross Pugh. Hayward made it 6-3 before another penalty from Stevens made the final score 6-4.
Richard King put Seend United Reserves ahead at Hilperton United Reserves. Nathan Litterick turned the game round for Hilperton with a hat-trick King netted again before the break but Carl Patrick soon restored the two goal margin. Rob O'Harrow scored twice for Seend but in between Patrick had sealed victory with his second goal for Hilperton.
