A SWINDON teacher is in line for a national information technology award for his work in promoting the subject in his school.
Assistant head teacher Simon Burrell has boosted the number of computers available for pupils at Lydiard Millicent Primary School from one to 21 since joining two years ago.
And he has encouraged the youngsters to develop their computer skills.
Mr Burrell has been shortlisted for the ICT in Practice Awards scheme after being singled out from hundreds of other entrants around the country.
If he wins, he will receive £2,500 for himself and the same amount for the school or £500 for each if he is a runner up.
The annual award, which recognises projects aimed at encouraging learning in the field of IT and communications, is supported by BT Education, the British Educational Communications and Technology Agency and The Times newspaper.
