THE Fire Brigade will be doing its bit for Children in Need tomorrow with an attempt to climb the distance to the edge of the Earth's atmosphere.
Fire officers and support staff alike will be taking on the gruelling 12.5-mile climb.
They will be setting up their ladder at the Shires shopping centre in Trowbridge and climbing up on a rota system from 10am to 4pm.
Val Hampshire, one of the climbers, said: "Last year I did say 'Never again' but I gave in.
"It is really hard. You discover muscles you never had, my legs actually felt as if they belonged to someone else."
Chief fire officer, Neil Wright, will start off the climb and there will be collecting buckets all around the centre.
The brigade would like to beat the amount they raised at the event last year nearly £1,800.
